Leachate & Runoff Mitigation

Agrocruz provides research based scheduling recommendations which improve fertilizer timing optimization based on when in the life-cycle the crops will need to have soil nutrients available.  Another goal for this consultation aims at support of efforts to not fertilize in conditions of water saturation or field capacity and prevent the movement of fertilizers below the root zone.Fertilizer applications are timed to coincide with a crop’s specific needs so that the majority of the fertilizer finds its way into the crop rather than being leeched below the root zone.  This promotes sustainability of the water resources downstream from agricultural production fields as well as reduces costs and improvements in harvest yields.  We advise on the best placement for runoff buffer zones to be established. Effective examples exist for the planting of grasses and other plants between the crop production areas and natural runoff pathways.  These buffer zones up-take nutrients and prevent them from reaching the waterways which helps prevent the costly involvement of regulatory mandates being placed on a growers operations.
